Job Description

 

Job Title: Mine Engineering – Intern

 

SUMMARY

 

Responsible for providing technical support to operations management with respect to surveying, drilling and blasting, exploration, reserve evaluation and mine modelling for permitting and mine planning purposes.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned

 

  • Safety training and overview of plant operations all products
  • Aggregate Operations
  • Mine overview and explanation of 3-year mine planning process
  • Plant process overview, KPI's and production reports
  • Understanding of specific plant process
  • Train as ground person, equipment operator and plant operator
  • Understand components of predictive maintenance program

 

Aggregate Operations

Introduction to the engineering process:

  • 3 year cap ex plan
  • Aggflow analysis
  • Right size mobile equipment
  • Cost saving initiatives
  • Project payback criteria

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

Enrolled in a four year degree program in a related field with one or more years of college completed. Must have computer skills either through experience or classes.

 

LANGUAGE SKILLS

Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of the organization.

 

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.

 

REASONING ABILITY

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several variables in standardized situations.
